Even Disney can’t write them this good.
After the Wrexham Football Club was purchased by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney back in 2020 there was definitely speculation on whether the pair were capable of making good on the promises they made. One of which was trying to get the former Championship club, that was now playing in of the lowest professional leagues of football, back into the top tier league. Well it looks like they might just hit that goal.
Over the ANZAC day weekend Wrexham AFC played off against Charlton which saw Wrexham take victory 3-0. The win over Charlton was the last citron needed to secure their spot in the Championship. Wrexham under the ownership of Rob & Ryan has now seen the club pull off a three-peat promotion as the club successfully makes its way up and out of the EFL League 1.
Although as incredible as this is, their next year ahead will definitely be their hardest. The quality of football and talent of players spikes exponentially with each promotion and their promotion into the Championship is easily the largest spike yet. Whilst it is without a doubt that the Ryan and Rob combo have made good on their club promises and have done some incredible work alongside club manager Phil Parkinson, it’ll be intersting to see what Wrexham is capable of next year.
