According to Mr. Thorburn, owner of South East Reptile Relocations, this time of year typically sees increased snake activity. However, the storms have caused a snakepocalypse, as the reptiles seek shelter in unfamiliar territory.
“The recent storms on the Gold Coast have forced snakes out of hiding,” explained Mr. Thorburn. “They’re feasting on frogs and making themselves at home in all sorts of unexpected places, from barbecues to lawnmowers.”
With snakes on the move due to displacement caused by the storms, it’s crucial to take action if you encounter one in your abode. Mr. Thorburn advises calling in a professional snake catcher to safely relocate the creature.
“Whatever you do, don’t take your eyes off the snake,” warned Mr. Thorburn. “It could mean the difference between successfully finding and removing the snake or having it slither off into the unknown.”
