American competitive eating legend Joey Chestnut has made headlines once again by devouring a staggering 83 hot dogs during Netflix’s Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef Labor Day special, setting a new world record and smashing his longtime rival, Japan’s Takeru Kobayashi in the process.
The two contestants had just 10 minutes in this thrilling showdown to gobble up as many hot dogs as possible.

Chestnut’s impressive 83 not only eclipsed Kobayashi’s 67 hot dogs consumed but also shattered his own previous record of 76 set back in 2021.
At 40 years old, Chestnut, alongside 46-year-old Kobayashi, remains one of the most renowned and decorated figures in the world of competitive eating.
Their rivalry for the title of supreme hot dog champion has captivated fans for years, especially at the iconic Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Remarkably, this live event marked their first direct competition in 15 years, according to Netflix.

Kobayashi ruled the Nathan’s contest from 2002 to 2007, but since 2008, Chestnut has claimed victory almost every year, dominating the scene for 17 years.
However, this past 4th of July, Chestnut was unable to compete in the beloved event due to his sponsorship with Impossible Foods, a company known for its meatless products and a competitor in the hot dog world.
The rivalry continues, and fans can’t wait to see what these two eating titans will do next!
