Australia Post is making a bold move to combat financial losses by reducing its daily letter delivery service to every second day. While government standards require parcels and priority mail to be delivered daily, Australia Post argues that the demand for letters is decreasing, making daily delivery unsustainable.

But don’t worry, your local posties will still be a familiar presence in your neighbourhood. They will spend less time delivering letters and more time delivering parcels, ensuring that you still receive your packages promptly.

These changes to letter delivery will be implemented gradually over the next 12 to 18 months.

As you can imagine, it’s a hot topic on social media for many Australians, with many users expressing confusion and frustration. Some even blame the current government for inadequate leadership. Many users have taken to Twitter arguing that they thought Australia Post had already cut back.

However, the government reassures us that these reforms will not result in a reduction of the minimum number of local post offices that are required. Even those in regional, rural, and remote areas will maintain the same level of service.

Unfortunately, Australia Post reported a significant $200 million loss in its full-year results back in August. But with these changes, they are determined to get back on track and continue serving the community.
