Melbourne cafè, Proud Mary collective, is selling $200 cups of coffee but there’s a catch, they’re only making 22 cups per day.
The ‘Black Jaguar’ coffee being served up is apparently the best in the world after scoring 96.5 out of 100 at the prestigious Best of Panama competition in 2022.
The founder of Proud Mary collective, Nolan Hirte, was on the judging panel at the competition and said the coffee blew him away. ‘Black jaguar’ sold for $2800 per pound (375 grams) but after tasting it, Nolan had to purchase two pounds of it to sell in his cafés in Melbourne, Austin and Portland.

But how good can this coffee really be? Well when Mr Hirte talks about ‘Black Jaguar’, he describes the experience as an out-of-body tingle that felt special and that at times, he gets chocked up and wants to cry, Hirte told AFR Weekend.
Mr Hirte compares the ‘Black Jaguar’ coffee to commodities like champagne truffle or a $3000 bottle of wine, describing it as a delicacy for connoisseurs.
He also believes that the coffee will sell out in a week, so if you are interested in trying the ‘Black Jaguar’, you better get down quickly because it is already on sale.
