Father’s Day is approaching fast and you still don’t have a present. As a Dad, I can honestly say I’d be happy with a hug, a drawing and a nice breakfast, but hey, If I were dreaming up presents with an unlimited budget there are a few items that would make the day extra special.
Sonos Headphones
A good set of headphones is essential these days and Sonos has recently launched its highly anticipated Sonos Ace. I can’t stand the in-ear variety so it’s great that these new premium over-the-ear headphones deliver the highest-fidelity sound with a sophisticated design that will cradle Dad in comfort as he listens to his favourite throwback playlist. Sonos Ace brings world-class noise-cancelling and Aware Mode to your headphones, along with immersive home theatre capabilities unlike any other on the market. With a sleek, sustainable design that blends timeless sophistication with long-lasting comfort, there’s no doubt that Sonos Ace will be Dad’s newest listening obsession. The best news is the Sonos app links with the iHeart app so you can listen to your favourite podcasts and music on the go.
Portable Speaker
But what if you want to share that iHeart Radio listening experience with the rest of the family? Roam 2 delivers rich, detailed sound and bass with the clarity, depth, and fullness you’d expect from a larger speaker, along with its fully dustproof and waterproof design. Whether he’s jamming out on the weekends or hosting a barbeque for his mates, Roam 2 is Dad’s ultimate lightweight, portable, and stylish speaker that is perfect for wherever life takes him.
LEGO
There’s nothing I find more relaxing than sitting down to do a nice LEGO set, quite often they are for my girls, so its Disney Princess or the LEGO Dreamzzz range. Getting some “Dad” LEGO is always a win and the pricing starts pretty reasonable. 2023 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car (RRP $39.99), Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance Pull-Back (RRP $39.99), Space Explorers Pack (RRP: $44.99), Yellow Construction Excavator (RRP: $79.99), Downtown Streetcar and Station (RRP: $149.99), TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up (RRP: $179.99), C-3PO™ (RRP: $229.99) These are all great sets to dive into Dad’s favourite hobbies and an awesome way to spend time with the kids as you all build together.
Portable Gaming Console
Gamer Dads will love the PlayStation Portal Remote Player. This is for the dads who’ve been kicked off the living room TV (again) while the kids watch Bluey or who just want to play PS5 games in another room of the house. I use mine to play on the back deck of the house, so I’m getting the best of nature and my gaming entertainment in one. You’ll need a PS5 to link it to, but the vibrant 8-inch LCD screen is capable of 1080p resolution at 60fps, providing a high-definition visual experience.
A New Stylish Smart Watch
If Dad is active and a little more traditional then The Withings ScanWatch Nova is a hybrid smartwatch that is packed with revolutionary sensors and advanced health tracking features, including on-demand medical-grade electrocardiogram, respiratory system assessment, advanced sleep metrics and advanced cardiovascular vitals including heart rate, heart rate variability, and ECG. The real hero of the device is that it has over 30 days of battery life and water resistance at 10 ATM, plus it looks like a watch, not some weird square gadgety thing. The ScanWatch Nova is perfect for taking Dad from his daily run into the office.
Portable Power Supply
For the practical Dad the DJI Power Station 500 which provides power to common household devices and superfast charging for DJI drone batteries. Drawing on over a decade’s worth of battery research and development, the device can be fully charged in just 70 minutes.
Capture those Family Moments
The handycam is a thing of the past and Dad’s phone is pretty old, so the perfect gift to capture those family moments or the seasonal traveller. The all-new DJI Osmo Pocket 3 features a powerful 1-inch CMOS sensor that puts detail-rich imaging right in the palm of your hand. With a 20-inch rotatable touchscreen and full-pixel fast focusing, go horizontal or vertical for more precise awareness and control. The camera is on a gimble so you also get the smoothest picture with no shaky hands.
Dad the Cook
The Pepper Cannon by MÄNNKITCHEN! The Pepper Cannon is a must-have kitchen accessory for cooks. The team claim that it’s the world’s BEST pepper grinder and we can’t really argue with that. Dad will be able to season a steak in 7 cranks instead of 70!!
Kindle
He loves reading but Dad’s eyes aren’t what they used to be. Using a Kindle to read means that you can adjust the backlight on the screen or adjust the size of the text. A much better experience than reading on a normal tablet, as the screen looks like paper so you still have that classic feel on a modern device. There are several models as well, the Kindle, Paperwhite, Scribe or read in the bath or pool with the Kindle Oasis. Sit back and relax with the latest in the series of Lee Child’s “Reacher” novels on Father’s Day.
Star Wars Outlaws
The new Star Wars Outlaws game is out at the end of the week just before the big day. The reason your “Gamer Dad” will love this one is because it’s set between the movies “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”, the best era of Star Wars where the war between the Empire and the Rebels is super active and it even has Jabba the Hut!! Out on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
To be honest, my kids could draw me a picture of any of these items or something else and I’d be stoked. Give them a big cuddle if you can on the day and Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s, not just the nerdy ones.
