Three people are now facing murder charges over the death of a 19-year-old man in Alice Springs.
Yiel ‘Yoal’ Gatluak’s body was found on Undoolya Road on New Years Day with police saying he died from blunt force trauma.
A 22-year-old man, who was extradited from Melbourne on Monday, was the first to be charged with murder over Mr Gatluak’s death.
Two others, aged 22 and 17, who were initially charged with accessory have now had their charges upgraded to murder.
Earlier this week police sought public assistance to help find a video that was believed to have captured an assault on Mr Gatluak and say it has now been located.
Detective Acting Superintendent Joe Carbone has thanked the community for their assistance with the investigation.
“These arrests and subsequent charges have been the result of an incredibly large investigation spanning over two and half weeks with detectives, specialist investigators and forensic experts working around the clock, without rest, to bring closure to the family.”
“A young man has tragically had his life callously taken from him and police remain committed to holding those responsible to account.”
All of the matters are before the Alice Springs Local Court.
