A man has been arrested for allegedly supplying drugs to the Greater Darwin Region and for possessing a stolen gun.
Police arrested the 20-year-old man in his car during a traffic apprehension on Tuesday, where they found a large quantity of the drugs in the car.
A search warrant was then executed at the man’s home in Stuart Park, where further quantities of illicit drugs and the alleged stolen firearm were located.
The man is facing 9 charges, including 2 counts of possessing a prohibited weapon and multiple counts of supplying and possessing a commercial quantity of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 dangerous drugs.
Further charges are expected to be handed down to the man when he appears in Darwin Local Court today.
Detective Superintendent Morgan says the community is a safer place with the drugs and gun now seized.
“We are always pleased when we take drugs off the streets however the importance of seizing an illegal firearm cannot be overstated,” he says.
“Anytime a gun is removed from the streets we know we have made the community a safer place.”
