3 cars have been stolen and 5 businesses broken into after a spate of crime events across the Greater Darwin Region.
Police allege a group of 5 to 8 young adult offenders used the stolen cars to visit businesses between 10:30pm Saturday and 5am Sunday.
The group allegedly broke into three service stations including Ampol Yarrawonga, Shell Coolalinga, and BP in Pinelands.
During the crime spree it’s alleged the group also broke into the Darwin River Tavern, Palmerston Cash Convertors, and a tobacconist in Palmerston.
Investigations are underway to identify the group of offenders.
Police have since recovered one of the stolen cars – the remaining two are outstanding.
Members of the community are being urged to contact police immediately if they see a Mitsubishi with the NT license plate CE61QF and a white Mazda CX3 with the NT license plate CE92BQ.
In a separate stolen car incident, a man is currently in police custody after allegedly hijacking a car and driving erratically.
It’s alleged a 39-year-old man forced a family out of their car that was parked at a fuel station in Palmerston at 5am Sunday.
Police say the man was driving down the wrong side of the road on Tiger Brennan Drive before crashing into another car.
The man allegedly attempted to flee the scene before police found and arrested him.
The driver of the other vehicle suffered only minor injuries, including a wound to his arm.
