A search and rescue operation to find a missing mum in Alice Springs has been called off with her disappearance now being treated as a homicide.

30-year-old Angie Fuller was last seen at a truck stop north of the town on the evening of Monday January 9, sparking a land and air search.

Ms Fuller had been in Darwin over Christmas and returned to Alice on the days she disappeared.

After 15 days of intensive searching covering almost 400 square kilometres of tough terrain involving drones and helicopters, crews have been unable to find her.

It’s believed she was driving a red Toyota Corolla, which was involved in an incident with another car on the Tanami Highway, about 15 kilometres west of the Stuart Highway in the early hours of Tuesday January 10.

But Assistant Commissioner Michael White says there are no confirmed sightings of Ms Fuller that day.

“There was some sort of dispute and as a result one of the cars was run off the road and we’ve spoken to all the parties that we have seen and that’s the point that we believe Ange became separated from everyone else,” he says.

Police say her car was found abandoned about 12 hours later on the Tanami Road.

Assistant Commissioner Michael White believes there are suspicious circumstances surrounding Ms Fuller’s disappearance.

“We believe at this stage that Angie is missing because of third party intervention so I’ve declared it a serious investigation and as a result we are investigating it and treating it as a homicide,” he says.

“There are some parties who are persons of interest who were involved prior to the last sighting on Ange.”

“Our feeling from the evidence that we do have is that something untoward has happened to her.”

The Assistant Commissioner is renewing calls for any information on Ms Fuller’s whereabouts.
