A popular NT swimming hole has been closed after reports of a crocodile incident.
The Department of Environment says a man was treated by an off-duty nurse at Wangai Falls this afternoon.
He was initially taken to the Batchelor clinic before St John Ambulance transferred him to Royal Darwin Hospital.
The swimming hole has been closed for safety reasons, with efforts underway to confirm what happened.
Director of Northern Australian Parks Dean McAdam has since confirmed that the man was attacked by a saltwater crocodile.
“It is estimated the crocodile is approximately 2m long,” Mr McAdam says.
He says rangers are working with the Crocodile Management Team to remove the reptile.
“Further crocodile surveys will then be undertaken prior to reopening.”
People are being urged to obey the closure and stay out of the water.
