Update 30/11/22 7:00am: 43-year-oldMatt Wright has been charged following an ongoing investigation into a helicopter crash in West Arnhem Land in February.
He was charged yesterday afternoon with:
- Attempt to Pervert the course of justice
- Destroy evidence
- Fabricate evidence
- Unlawful entry – Building
- Unlawful entry – Dwelling
- Make a false declaration
- Threats/Reprisals – Interfere with witnesses – Criminal Investigation / Court Processes
He was bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court at 9.30 am today.
His bail conditions include not to contact certain people and to reside at a particular address.
Earlier: An arrest warrant has been issued for Matt Wright in relation to a fatal helicopter crash in West Arnhem Land.
The 43-year-old has been contacted through his legal team and informed he must present to a police station in Darwin by 9am Wednesday 30 November 2022.
He will be charged with six offences including:
• Perverting the course of justice
• Destruction of evidence
• Fabricating evidence
• Interfere with witnesses
• Unlawful entry x 2
The charges relate to the crash which claimed the life of Chris ‘Willow’ Wilson and seriously injured Sebastian Robinson in February.
Matt Wright and his wife Kaia Wright welcomed their second child into the world earlier this month.
The couple announced the birth of Dusty Faith Wright on 18th November 2022 on social media.
