Police appealing for information as Darwin River bushfire believed to be suspicious

Investigations are underway to find the cause of a large scale bushfire at Darwin River.

Bushfires NT, Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service, and NT Police were called to the blaze on Leonino Road just before 1pm on Tuesday.

It has since ripped through a large area, destroying a number of structures and vehicles, and investigators are now treating it as suspicious.

The blaze is now under control and major re-ignition is unlikely.

NT Police are calling for information from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour in the area or may have dash cam footage to contact them on 131 444.
