A man remains in a critical condition after being hit by a car overnight.
Police attended the scene on the Stuart Highway and Vanderline Drive intersection in Berrimah at around 7pm, and St John transported a 32-year-old man to Royal Darwin Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene, and returned negative results for drugs and alcohol.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner says the pedestrian was intoxicated at the time, and police are continuing to investigate.
“Police Investigations are in their early stages, however, it is believed the pedestrian was intoxicated, wearing dark clothing and walked into the path of oncoming traffic.
“Alcohol and roads do not mix, regardless of whether you are a motorist or a pedestrian.”
