The fugitive was one of the state’s most wanted men, Mark Horne, who was found hiding in the hull of a yacht bound for Indonesia.

Horne is accused of avoiding criminal prosecution over his alleged involvement in the shooting of a truck driver and theft of $550,000 in New South Wales in 2020.

The 27-year-old man, who has been charged with perverting the course of justice and supporting people smuggling faced court in Darwin today.

AFP Superintendent Greg Davis has condemned his alleged behaviour.

“Providing support that allows or facilitates these criminal organisations to commit offences across the country is as serious as committing those offences themselves.”

“This extradition should demonstrate that through our partner agencies co-operating, the capability exists to target these criminal groups regardless of where they are located within Australia.”
