A man is facing a string of charges after allegedly trespassing on a rural property armed with a weapon.
Two of the man’s dogs wandered into a home on Trippe Road Humpty Doo on Tuesday and ate the chickens on the property, with the residents allegedly posting on a Facebook community page threatening to shoot the dogs with a cross bow if they came back.
The 42-year-old man saw the post and allegedly visited the property armed with a loaded gun, pointing the gun at the residents and threatening to shoot their animals before fleeing the scene.
Police later arrested the man and seized the gun.
He has since been charged with possessing an unregistered firearm, failing to secure a firearm, possessing ammunition without a permit/license, possessing/using a firearm unlicensed, assault by threatening with a firearm/weapon, and trespassing on an enclosed premises.
The man is due to front Darwin Local Court today.
