Katherine Town Council has reinstated a scrap metal disposal fee at the towns Waste Management Facility.
Commercial operators will now have to pay $74.30 per tonne for scrap metal disposal.
The charge was removed following the 2024/25 fees and charges review, when the council decided to absorb the full recycling cost.

The council says following a decline in scrap metal prices they can no longer cover costs for disposal.
They also say not reintroducing a fee could lead to an accumulation of scrap metal at the site, which could lead to increased operational costs.
