Two teenage boys have been arrested after allegedly attacking an man in Palmerston and stealing his car.
Police received reports of a break-in at a home on Star Court in Woodroffe at 7am yesterday (April 2).
A neighbour raised the alarm after hearing items being smashed and found a 71-year-old man injured on the ground upon entering the home.
It’s alleged two youths attacked the man with an edged weapon before stealing his Ford Territory station wagon.
The 71-year-old has been taken to Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious condition.
The boys aged 13 and 14 were arrested in Moulden a short time later.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Alicia Harvey says, “The actions of these individuals are despicable.
“I would like to commend the swift actions of all those involved in these arrests.
“We will continue to ensure those who engage in criminal behaviour are held accountable and are brought before the courts.”
