The announcement that Indonesia will lift its live cattle export suspension, with immediate effect, is being welcomed by the NT government.
With Malaysia recently making the same announcement, it means our critical live cattle industry can return to normal export routes as quickly as possible.
In a statement the Minister for Agribusiness and Fisheries Paul Kirby has thanked the NT Cattlemen’s Association and NT Live Exporters for their considered advocacy and patience through this time.
‘I’d also to thank our hard-working local Department staff, our Federal counterparts and Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries staff for their unrelenting efforts across the last few weeks.
‘Indonesia is an important trade partner for Australia and the Northern Territory and we thank their officials for their collaborative approach to resolving this issue as quickly as possible,’ he says.
