Man struck by a vehicle while trying to flee alleged assault

A man who allegedly assaulted a public safety officer has been struck by a car while trying to flee from the scene.

Police are investigating two men, aged 18 and 28, who allegedly threatened and assaulted the officer at Palmerston on Monday afternoon.

While both men attempted to run from the scene, the 28-year-old was hit by a passing vehicle and was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital in a stable condition.

Meanwhile the 18-year-old was arrested nearby and charged with assault.
