A large saltwater crocodile has been trapped at a swimming hole in Litchfield.
The 3.6 metre reptile was relocated by rangers on Friday, from an area that was closed to swimming.
It’s a timely reminder to follow all signage after reports of people swimming at Berry Springs at the weekend.
The Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security says rangers do their best to keep water holes open for swimming as long as possible.
“Waterholes are closed to swimming when high water levels and an increased crocodile risk make it too dangerous to enter the water,” a spokesperson says.
“So if they are closed it’s for a good reason.”
The Department says there is no routine crocodile management in places including Berry Springs or Wangai Falls during wet season closures.
Upper Cascades is currently the only place open for a dip in Litchfield.
