Three teenagers have been arrested over a car theft in Alawa.
It’s alleged the group took the Toyota Rav4 from a home on Hurtle street in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Police say they were able to link a 14-year-old girl to the scene using electronic monitoring.
Later that day, the car was spotted driving down the Stuart Highway towards Katherine, with police deployed to intercept the vehicle.
The car had been abandoned when officers arrived, with the trio fleeing into bushland.
The group aged 14,15 and 17 were arrested after police chased them on foot.
A 15-year-old girl is facing four charges including aggravated unlawful entry and use of a motor vehicle.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old man is charged with causing damage to property and serious breach of bail.
The 14-year-old girl was released pending further investigations.
Police expect to lay further charges once forensic analysis is complete.
